Russian FM announced date of roaming cancellation in Union State

From January 1st, 2025, Russian and Belarusian subscribers in the Union State will have access to communication services at comfortable tariffs, comparable in the two countries’ mobile networks, RIA Novosti reports

Director of the Second CIS Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry Aleksey Polishchuk noted that both Russia and Belarus understand the importance of the complete cancellation of roaming charges in the Union State, since ‘it will have a positive impact on the development of tourism and strengthening contacts between people’.

The diplomat recalled that since April 1st, 2022, roaming charges for incoming calls were cancelled, simplifying the lives of Russians and Belarusians, who often travel between the two states. According to Mr. Polishchuk, the next step is being prepared: to enable Belarusian and Russian subscribers within the Union State to have access to communication services at comfortable tariffs, comparable in the two countries’ mobile networks from January 1st, 2025. The relevant agreements were reached at a meeting of the high-level group of the Union State Council of Ministers on September 27th in Minsk.

The relevant departments are currently working out the details with telecom companies.
