Belpharmprom: Belarus’ medicines accounting for at least 50% of domestic market

According to Igor Mitrofanov, the Director General of Belpharmprom Holding Management Company, this is one of the highest indicators compared to the domestic markets of neighbouring countries

“The share of Belarusian medicines in the domestic market in value terms is kept at the level of at least 50 percent – one of the highest indicators compared to the domestic markets of neighbouring countries. In terms of consumption, the share of Belarusian medicines in the pharmacy chain totals about 70 percent and reaches 90 percent in the hospital sector due to the difference in prices for imported and domestic drugs,” Igor Mitrofanov said.

About 4,200 medicines have been registered in Belarus, of which 1,750 are produced by Belarusian manufacturers.

“Thus, the domestic pharmaceutical industry ensures the drug safety of the country – one of the components of its sustainable development,” he stressed.
