Lukashenko on purpose of creating new historical museum

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has convened a meeting today on the architectural solution and concept of the exposition of the National Historical Museum complex

Before the discussion, the President emphasised the importance and main purpose of the new facility, “I would like to discuss with you today the fundamental issues – that are important for our state – related to the construction of a new modern National Historical Museum of Belarus. It should be a normal museum, where anyone, especially young people, can visit and get convinced that we have the right to our statehood. We have achieved it, earned it with hard work, sweat and blood. No matter what happens around the country, no matter how much we are dragged down by current concerns, the issues of national state-building will always be in the centre of our attention. A lot has been done in this sphere over the past thirty years of our sovereign path. We have agreed on approaches to the history of the Belarusian statehood and, in general, state policy in the field of history. We have stopped being ‘shy’ about certain periods of our history. We talk about them honestly, openly, and in the way we understand them. This is relevant on the eve of National Unity Day, and the future museum is a new stage along this path. Its main goal is to show a difficult millennia-old path of Belarusians to statehood.”
