Addressing the new Foreign Minister, Aleksandr Lukashenko said, “You are a tough, demanding person. The Foreign Ministry needs to be brought to its senses. I speak in openly. It’s necessary to shake the Foreign Ministry so that it starts working. Let’s do it together [with PM Roman Golovchenko], enabling the Foreign Ministry to deal with its issues and implement what it must do for the country. All issues (those of Snopkov on China, those of Krutoi on Russia, and those relating to the far arc countries), everything should be agreed and co-ordinated at the Foreign Ministry. No one has to do the work for the foreign policy department. No one should substitute for the minister and the ministry. We need to step up and make the ministry work. Give everyone a chance. But those who don’t want to work, and those who won’t hear me today, they shouldn’t work there.”
