Lukashenko: innovations should become main driving force for economies of Belarus and Russia

Innovation should become the main driving force for the economies of Belarus and Russia – as stated today by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko in his video message to the participants of the 11th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, BelTA reports

According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, the issues of building an innovative economy of the Union State are now naturally on the agenda of the forum, since ensuring technological sovereignty and national security in the modern world is unthinkable without the development and implementation of innovative solutions.

The Belarusian leader is confident that Belarus and Russia have all the necessary conditions in this regard: the best scientific schools have been preserved, a strong material base has been provided, a unified industrial policy is being implemented, and a unified scientific and technological space is being formed. Most importantly, the two countries have a powerful human potential.

“A lot has been done, but we shouldn’t rest on our laurels. We must strive to ensure that innovations become the main driving force for the economies of Belarus and Russia. Initiative, creativity, and unconventional thinking should set trends in the economic development of our countries. Solving the tasks requires the training of highly qualified specialists. Therefore, priority should be given to preserving and strengthening the potential in the field of science and education," the President said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko drew attention to the fact that the development of innovative economies in Belarus and Russia is impossible without the active position of the regions,” The creation of high-tech enterprises at the local level can become the most promising and sustainable points of economic growth.”

According to the President, these projects will also help in solving social problems, such as creating new jobs, maintaining local human resources, and attracting young people to production.

“We must not forget that in the end all our activities should be aimed at making people’s lives better,” the Belarusian leader stressed.
