Russian government agreed to open Belarus’ consulates general in Kaliningrad and Nizhny Novgorod

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed orders by which the Russian Federation approves agreements with the Republic of Belarus on the opening of consulates general of Belarus in Kaliningrad and Nizhny Novgorod. The documents are published on the legal information portal.

The consular district of the institution in Nizhny Novgorod will include Mordovia, Vladimir, Ivanovo, Kostroma, Nizhny Novgorod, Penza, Ryazan, and Yaroslavl regions. According to legal acts, the Kaliningrad, Novgorod, Pskov and Tver regions will be under the jurisdiction of the Consulate General in Kaliningrad.

The Government of the Russian Federation recommends that the governments of the Nizhny Novgorod and Kaliningrad regions allocate office and residential premises or land for their construction to accommodate consulates general.

“We’re preparing a site for the Consulate General of Belarus in Nizhny Novgorod. I thank my colleagues for their choice and trust! This will be another important step in strengthening co-operation between our states,” Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Gleb Nikitin wrote in his Telegram channel.
