Lukashenko: we need to be proactive in bridge repairs
Today, when President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has been reported on the development of the national highway network and the formation of transport infrastructure that would provide an hour-long travel to satellite cities, the Head of State instructed to be proactive in the reconstruction and repair of bridges
According to Transport and Communications Minister Aleksei Lyakhnovich, a lot of money has been invested in roads in Belarus in the last two years.
“In 2023, we made more than 3,000km of roads and 107 bridge structures, while this year the figure will already exceed 5,000km of roads and 117 bridges,” the official said.
The President instructed to envisage the repair and construction of bridges in the new programme of road construction, paying special attention to the reconstruction of existing structures.
“We need to reconstruct old bridges of which there are many. They are mostly small. So, we should be proactive, rather than waiting for a bridge to start collapsing or ruin at all.”
