Agriculture and Food Minister: Belarus-Kazakhstan trade turnover steadily growing

The presidents of Belarus and Kazakhstan have established trusting relations, which is very important – as stated by Belarus’ Agriculture and Food Minister Anatoly Linevich at a solemn event on the occasion of Kazakhstan’s Republic Day

“The Republic of Kazakhstan is a strategic and reliable partner of the Republic of Belarus, with which we maintain a high level of interaction in a bilateral format through integration associations within international organisations. Belarus and Kazakhstan have gone a long way in developing and strengthening statehood. Building ties has laid a serious foundation for economic development," Mr. Linevich said.

The annual billion-Dollar trade turnover testifies to the high dynamics of Belarusian-Kazakh interaction. For example, industrial co-operation projects are successfully developing. “The capacities of joint ventures in Kazakhstan make it possible to produce annually up to 10 thousand Belarusian tractors and thousands of combines. As the Agriculture and Food Minister, I would like to note that products of the agricultural food industry occupy an important position in our bilateral trade. Kazakhstan is the third most important trading partner of Belarusian agricultural and food products (behind Russia and China). In eight months of 2024, our agricultural product turnover increased by 21 percent compared to the same period in 2023,” Mr. Linevich added.

According to the official, Belarus highly appreciates the support of Kazakhstan and will continue to strive to intensively develop mutual trust in political trade. “Friendship and good relations with the fraternal people of Kazakhstan are an important priority of our state's foreign policy. Mutual respect, open dialogues, and productive co-operation are the unshakable key principles of our partnership. Trusting relations have developed between the presidents of our countries. Close co-operation is maintained at the government level. Intensive interaction is growing at the level of regional industries and businesses," he noted.

Mr. Linevich stressed that Belarus and Kazakhstan have virtually no areas left that are not covered by bilateral liaisons, “The upcoming official visit of the Head of the Government of Kazakhstan to Belarus will give a significant impetus to bilateral trade and economic co-operation in the implementation of the planned signing of the 2025-2029 roadmap, will allow reaching new heights in the development of key areas of interaction.”

The Agriculture and Food Minister noted that, over the years of sovereignty, Kazakhstan has achieved significant success in state-building, confidently moving along the path of socio-economic development, playing a constructive role in addressing issues on the regional and global agenda. “The Republic of Kazakhstan is now successfully overcoming the challenges of modernity and actively participating in global processes, implementing large-scale reforms on the way to building a just Kazakhstan. Over the past years, the interaction between our countries has become of a deep and diverse character. Belarus and Kazakhstan have common approaches to solving many urgent problems of our time. This year, Astana has become a platform for Belarus’ receiving the status of a SCO member. The support of the chairmanship in the organisation was especially valuable. On behalf of the Republic of Belarus, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the leadership of the Republic of Kazakhstan for maintaining an atmosphere of trust and mutual understanding between us, our fraternal peoples, and creating conditions for improving friendship and mutual trust,” he said.

Mr. Linevich emphasised, “The glorious pages of our common history, the desire to live in peace together, to face the challenges and difficulties of the present time will strengthen common interests and will contribute to deepening mutually beneficial co-operation and multiplying joint achievements for the benefit of the two countries: Belarus and Kazakhstan.”
