Lukashenko signed decree lifting restrictions on size of pensions for working pensioners

On October 29th, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko signed Decree No. 402 On Social Support, sb.by reports with reference to the Belarusian leader’s press service

The document was adopted to strengthen social support for certain categories of citizens.

In particular, it envisages lifting of restrictions on the amount of pensions for working pensioners, thus increasing the efficiency of using people of retirement age in the labour market.

A further reduction in the pension insurance record from 10 to 5 years is established for mothers who have given birth and raised 4 or more children.

Additional guarantees for the assignment of an early pension (5 years earlier) will be given to fathers of disabled children who raise and care for a child without the participation of the mother.

An increase in the allowance received in connection with the death of one of the parents is envisaged for disabled children. The amount of such an increase will depend on the degree of loss of the child’s health. Thus, taking into account the allowance received, the child will actually be reimbursed for the income that he could have received during the lifetime of the parent.

The decree also simplifies the procedure for collecting documents on earnings for calculating pensions, and optimises the deadlines for submitting an application for a pension.

In addition, the right to receive a pension through a post office remains for certain categories of citizens (those with special needs, those living with first group disabled people or those caring for a disabled child). This opportunity is also ensured to all pensioners in case of payment for this service at their own expense (according to the tariffs of the postal services for the delivery of pensions at the expense of the off-budget social protection fund).

The main provisions of the decree come into force on January 1st, 2025.
