The Head of State stressed that the deaths and beatings of refugees and migrants in the countries of the collective West have become a terrible daily reality, “The world media and global politicians are silent about this, but the accusations of Belarus in creating this crisis do not leave the front pages despite the fact that the main route of these people has not changed for many years. Up to half a million people annually use the route passing through the Mediterranean Sea, the Balkan Peninsula. Europe is unable to restore order at home, but knows well how to distract from internal problems: to appoint an external enemy.”

“Why did they build the iron curtain, which they have been fighting against in front of our eyes for the last decades? Why did they build a fence? If anyone is interested, we can take you to the border and show you this iron curtain that ruins the entire flora and fauna, especially the Belovezhskaya Pushcha. Why is everyone silent when these poor people are beaten, killed, and thrown across the border over this fence? After all, this is the beginning of a big trouble,” the Head of State noted.

Continuing the topic of the migration crisis, Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that Belarus had liaised with the EU on border security issues before the sanctions were imposed and was ready to continue this co-operation, “They imposed economic sanctions on us, put a noose around our neck and began to strangle us while demanding to protect them from migrants. We will not protect you, we won’t catch them on the border as before. You have destroyed states in the Middle East, you have strangled Africa. Instead of helping Africa get back on its feet, you’re mercilessly exploiting them by introducing neo-colonialism. You started the war in Afghanistan, Iraq and so on; you destroyed these states. You invited these poor people to your countries and today you have declared them a hybrid threat and are puzzling over plans to expel them. But so far you have no idea of who will work in their place. If you invited them, you are obliged to provide them with employment and equal conditions with your citizens.”
