The Defence Ministry of Belarus hosted a meeting between the Defence Minister, Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin, and the Collective Security Treaty Organisation Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov, the Defence Ministry press service told sb.by

The minister introduced Mr. Tasmagambetov to the current situation in the Eastern European collective security region and informed him on the position Belarus holds concerning issues to be discussed at the upcoming joint meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Defence Ministers, and the Committee of Secretaries of the Security Councils of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation. The meeting will take place in Astana on November 28th.

The parties discussed key co-operation areas for the CSTO this year, along with possible vectors for future relations.

Speaking about the immediate plans for the organisation, Mr. Khrenin pointed out that Belarus is going to be focused on hosting joint CSTO military exercises on its territory in 2025: Vzaimodeistvie, Poisk, and Eshelon, as well as meeting the requirements of the CSTO collective security strategy 2025.

“Drawing the line under the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to further co-operation focused on developing the organisation’s military component,” added the press service.
