Belarus has the status of a state that should be spoken to at least respectfully – as noted by Editor-in-Chief of the Natsionalnaya Oborona [National Defence] magazine, Russian military expert Igor Korotchenko on the side-lines of the 2nd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security

Mr. Korotchenko pointed out that, unlike many other countries, Belarus ‘is now playing in the top league, including due to having nuclear guarantees and the ability to use Russian nuclear weapons in case of aggression against it’, “This is the status of a state that should be spoken to at least respectfully. The recent BRICS summit, just like the SCO, CSTO, CIS, and EAEU platforms, is an alternative to Western unions and blocs that we offer to all countries. A huge number of states support us. Today, the world needs global meanings. On the one hand, Western politicians bring us the risk and threat of WWIII, which is already knocking at our doors. On the other hand, here in Minsk we are discussing what can push back the threat of total annihilation.”
