Lukashenko reported on agro-industrial complex efficiency and Minsk’s contribution

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has been reported today on the efficiency of the agro-industrial complex. The meeting gathered Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Shuleiko, Agriculture and Food Minister Anatoly Linevich, Chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee Aleksandr Turchin, Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Vladimir Kukharev, among others.

Before the responsible officials began reporting, Aleksandr Lukashenko explained that the conversation had been pre-scheduled, “We agreed earlier that we would choose a convenient time (taking into account the situation in our fields and preparations for the winter stall period for keeping livestock), and the Deputy Prime Minister and the [Agriculture and Food] Minister would report on the state of affairs in our agro-industrial complex – primarily, the agricultural organisations. I have invited the Governor today as well, so that you could report objectively. He will comment on what has been done well, and what not. He will also explain whether everything is as good as you say, or whether it is really bad.”

As for the participation of the Minsk Mayor in today’s meeting, the President explained, “I invited Vladimir Yevgenievich [Kukharev] so that we could publicly say how we will help our agriculture next year.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko recalled the situation when Yuri Shuleiko (when he was the Brest Region Governor) was much indignant that Minsk had allegedly helped the Minsk Region to build dairy complexes. “As the Governor, that issue was raised reasonably. [He was right in wondering] why Vladimir Yevgenievich had not helped his region build at least one livestock complex. The Brest Region – like all other regions – is actually supplying milk to Minsk,” the Belarusian leader noted and then added with a smile, “Moreover, if we do not help them, then they will not support us during the election. Therefore, we should promise them that we will build at least one complex in each [region]. If you fail to find the necessary funds in Minsk, I will lend you a shoulder.”
