The Belarusian leader stressed that it would be nice if parliamentarians of the two countries joined the work of the joint trade and economic commission, “We have studied the trade turnover between Belarus and Pakistan in recent years. It makes $50m on average or is slightly more. I think you will agree that it is a small figure for high-tech Belarus and the country where 200m+ people live. Therefore, we need to deepen and expand our trade turnover, involving more goods. We are ready to satisfy your interest during this visit and represent Belarus in all areas that you wish.”

The parliamentary delegation of Pakistan is on an official visit to Belarus from August 19th to 22nd. The programme includes meetings with the chairpersons of the Council of the Republic and the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, Natalya Kochanova and Igor Sergeyenko, with Agriculture and Food Minister Anatoly Linevich, and a visit to the Minsk Tractor Works.

Over the past five years, the average trade turnover between Belarus and Pakistan amounted to $53.8m. Last year, the trade turnover exceeded $48m, and in January-June 2024, it reached almost $25m (30 percent more than in the same period last year). A significant increase in exports in 2023-2024 was due to the restoration of supplies of tractors and fertilisers to the Pakistani market.
