Lukashenko: Kamchatka Krai is dream of any traveller, including me

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, drew attention to the prospects of co-operation development in the field of tourism as he met today with the Governor of the Kamchatka Krai of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Solodov

The Head of State stressed, “The Kamchatka Krai is the dream of any traveller, including me. If you do not mind, someday I will find time to visit you.”

In this regard, the Belarusian leader recalled his recent meeting with Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg, “Vladimir Vladimirovich again told me a lot about Kamchatka then. I asked him about Chukotka, where he had been, and he said that it was a silent, severe land. In turn, Kamchatka is completely different. It is unique, and this is a romantic picture I see in my mind. I still hope to look at this region one day in the future. He [Putin] invites me all the time, saying it is worth visiting Altai, Kamchatka, and Lake Baikal – to feel the beauty of the Trans-Urals. Therefore, if you don't mind, I will find time to visit you someday.”

According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, Belarusian citizens once began showing a great interest in foreign trips, but domestic tourism is becoming increasingly popular in recent years – ‘especially in Russia’, “I always tell Putin that if someone wants to see the most beautiful places, then there is no need to go anywhere. Russia has everything – including the subtropics and wonderful ski resorts. There are no resorts in the world better than Krasnaya Polyana in Sochi. I have seen good resorts in Switzerland and Austria, but this pearl is found in Russia. There are places to relax, and Russians have finally realised that they should holiday within the country.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko added that more than one million Russians visited Belarus last year, “I think more may come, and we will be happy to welcome them. They are coming here because we treat Russians with the greatest respect. It is safe here, they buy apartments and their children study in our schools.”
