Lithuania has no more possibilities to accommodate Ukrainian refugees
Lithuanians have exhausted their possibilities of accommodating Ukrainian refugees – as stated by the country’s Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, RIA Novosti reports
According to the ELTA Agency, the readiness of the Lithuanian society to accept Ukrainians is currently very important, but the organisation co-ordinating this process has already repeatedly informed that citizens have exhausted their possibilities of accommodating refugees.
Along with this, Luka Lesauskait, from the Red Cross in Lithuania, said that a wave of refugees from Ukraine is likely to increase in the coming cold months, and – based on ‘unfavourable scenarios’ – the number of refugees in Lithuania may reach 100,000.
According to Lithuania’s Interior Ministry, about 61,000 refugees from Ukraine are registered in the country, and about 150 people arrive weekly.
