Allied Resolve 2022 joint exercise kicks off today

The Belarusian-Russian military exercise Allied Resolve 2022 starts on February 10th – as reported by BelTA

In accordance with the decision of the heads of Belarus and Russia, the first stage of the inspection of the Union State rapid response forces was held in Belarus until February 9th, with troops working out the issues of conducting defence and combating illegal armed formations at various training grounds as part of combat co-ordination.

At the second stage of the check of the response forces, from February 10th to February 20th, the Allied Resolve 2022 joint exercise will be held. Military units and detachments of the Armed Forces of Belarus and the Eastern Military District of the Armed Forces of Russia will work out the tasks of suppressing and repelling external aggression during a defensive operation, as well as countering terrorism and protecting the interests of the Union State.

The practical actions of the troops are taking place at the Brestsky, Domanovsky, Gozhsky, Obuz-Lesnovsky and Osipovichsky training grounds. It is also planned to use the airfields in Baranovichi, Luninets, Lida and Machulishchi. The number of military personnel and equipment involved in the exercise, which falls under the Vienna Document 2011, does not exceed the parameters that are subject to notification.

According to the Defence Ministry, more than 150 journalists representing Belarusian, Russian and foreign media have been accredited to work at the exercise. For the first time, Belarusian bloggers and public opinion leaders have been also invited.

From February 12th to February 19th, the Defence Ministry plans to organise three press tours to the areas of practical operations of the troops. On February 12th, Belarusian and Russian journalists will visit the Gozhsky training ground, alongside representatives of the countries participating in the joint operational exercise of the Armed Forces of Belarus and Russia. According to the concept of the operational exercise, it is planned to conduct combat in the area of ambush operations by combat guard units with enemy reconnaissance. Then, manoeuvre defence will be carried out with the support of aviation and artillery, as well as a counterattack by the combined arms reserve in the area of enemy penetration. Afterwards, there will be withdrawal from action and retreat to the lines of mobile defence.

On February 15th, Belarusian and Russian journalists will be joined by representatives of member states of joint operational exercise of the Armed Forces of Belarus and Russia at the Polessky training round. The military personnel here will launch the Tochka tactical missile system. Combat launches will be carried out as part of systematic fire operations by the missile forces. During the launch, a group missile attack will be carried out on two objects of a mock enemy at a distance of up to 70km.

On February 19th, foreign, Belarusian and Russian journalists will attend the Obuz-Lesnovsky training ground and will be able to see the conduct of a defensive battle at a manoeuvrable line of defence, followed by withdrawal from the battle to an operational defensive line, defeating the enemy, conducting a counterattack with a tactical airborne landing behind enemy lines, with the support of aviation and artillery at all stages of defensive combat.
