Trump threatened BRICS countries with 100% tariffs if they move away from the Dollar
US President elect Donald Trump said he’s going to impose 100% tariffs on goods from BRICS countries if they establish their own currency or refuse to use the Dollar, TASS reports
“The idea that the BRICS Countries are trying to move away from the Dollar while we stand by and watch is OVER,” Trump posted on Truth Social. He went on to emphasise that the US requires a commitment from these countries that they will neither create a new BRICS currency, nor back any other currency to replace the mighty US Dollar. Otherwise, they are going to face 100% tariffs and ‘to say goodbye to selling into the wonderful US economy’.
