Expert said Israel has long produced its own nuclear weapons
Policy and Research Co-ordinator at the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) Alicia Sanders-Zakre said that Israel has long been independently producing its nuclear weapons, which can now be launched from land, aircraft and sea, RIA Novosti reports
The expert noted that Israel has approximately 90 nuclear weapons ‘that it can launch with missiles and aircraft and, possibly, sea-based missiles’.
Initially, Israel’s nuclear weapons programme was aided by technology and materials provided by France and Norway in the 1950s without the knowledge of the United States. Today, experts believe that Israel’s nuclear weapons programme is almost certainly self-sufficient, she stressed.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the Iranian authorities are ready for a large-scale war with Israel if it is unleashed in the region, but they do not seek it.
