Under the Housing is a Right, not a Business slogan, residents marched in the Spanish capital, demanding lower rental prices and better living conditions. According to the government, twelve thousand people took to the streets.

"In July, Spain’s government announced a crackdown on short-term and seasonal holiday lettings. It plans to investigate listings on platforms such as Airbnb and Booking.com to verify if they have licenses," the publication reads.

Spain is trying to find a balance between the development of tourism, a key driver of the country's economy, and addressing citizens’ concerns over unaffordably high rents caused by gentrification and landlords shifting to more lucrative tourist rentals.
