According to the official, it will be ‘a temporary and exceptional measure’.

De Telegraaf reported that such steps are aimed at illegal migration. Ms. Faber has already notified the European Commission, the EU Council, the European Parliament and the EU countries of the decision.

Border control will be carried out by the Royal Dutch Military Police. The publication does not provide information on exactly where the checks will be organised and how many points will be arranged. According to the Minister of Asylum and Migration, the country's authorities plan to ‘increase the number of inspections over time’.

Ms. Faber explained that additional control can be introduced only from December 9th, as it should take at least four weeks after the relevant decision is made.
