Lukashenko recalled task of involving unused farm plots and lands near houses into economic activity
Upon arrival in Klimovichi, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko reminded officials of the task of involving unused lands near houses and farm plots into the economic activity, BelTA reports
"[There are] lands near houses and farm plots, especially of the former farms, all over the country – and especially here. There can be no farm, but only a tower – with no villages or towns around, there is nothing, but two dozen hectares of unplowed land. That’s an outrage. Therefore, we need to do something about it," the Belarusian leader stressed.
Aleksandr Lukashenko addressed this task primarily to the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic and the authorised representative of the Head of State in the Mogilev Region, Leonid Zayats, “You probably need to take this problem under control as well. Tell me if any assistance is needed. Governors also need to be encouraged in this regard, especially those subordinate to district executive committees. They are actually responsible for this land. These territories need to be put in order, and these people know how to do this.”
The Head of State stressed that these issues should be settled not only near the so-called unpromising villages, but also in agro-towns, since most people no longer need large areas of land for their agricultural needs.
"People no longer want to process large areas, a half of a hectare, 40 acres. It is not necessary now. They [work] just on 6-10 acres near their houses, if they are responsible landlords. All other lands are simply abandoned," the Head of State noted.
