Senko: China needs our products, and we must take advantage of it
China and Belarus are two countries with different mentalities, geographically located far from each other – in Asia and Europe – but they achieve all-weather and comprehensive co-operation. In his talk with ONT TV channel, Belarusian Ambassador to China Yuri Senko explained why this happened.
The Ambassador told us how Belarus and China managed to establish good relations, “I will definitely say that the key to such close, good and friendly ties were the relations that have developed between the leaders of our countries, between the President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko and the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping. The leaders view each other as true partners. These partnerships have developed dynamically over the years, moving forward and increasing their status.”
Yuri Senko spoke about the famous China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), noting where Belarus fits into it, “Belarus was one of the first, perhaps even the first country, which – having heard this initiative – understood that a mutually interesting effect would be achieved. The effect was literally a 20-fold increase in the volume of traffic along the route China-Europe, Europe-China. We’re interested in the latest productions that can arrive in Belarus today. This is also interesting for China, since today they are locating production facilities on the territory of the Republic of Belarus – bringing production and finished goods that will be manufactured on the territory of these enterprises, on the territory of the Great Stone Industrial Park – closer to the EU.”
The high-ranking diplomat noted that China has opened up not only to Belarus, but also to the whole world. Yet it is Belarusian products that are in demand in China today, and this must be taken advantage of.
“China has opened up to the whole world in terms of opportunities. Exactly to the whole world,” said Yuri Senko. “Today the whole world has rushed to China with their goods, products, and some interests. And we should not be among the latecomers here. China is now very actively developing in the field of e-commerce. Most Chinese nowadays buy and make purchases through electronic stores using mobile phones. Today we are already developing these. Some products are already sold through electronic platforms. I often say about this that there is no particular need for additional advertising for Belarusian goods. The very name ‘Republic of Belarus’ on the packaging is evidence that the product is of high quality. China needs our products, and we must take advantage of it.”
