Senator: Ukraine trying to involve Belarus into armed conflict

The invasion of Ukrainian drones into the airspace of Belarus on August 9th should be regarded as a new attempt to involve the country into an armed conflict – as noted by a member of the Council of the Republic, Aleksandr Goroshkin, sb.by reports

“The events have shown that the Ukrainian authorities are trying to shake up the situation and bring it to a high degree of escalation. The military and political leadership of Ukraine understands that the situation at the front is not in their favour, and in order to hide the traces of a crime against their own people, they are interested in involving as many participants as possible in the military conflict. They are used to living in military conditions and therefore seek to escalate the military conflict by any means in order to receive new financial support and weapons from the West,” Mr. Goroshkin said.

According to the MP, this situation indicates that the Kiev regime is not set up for a peaceful settlement of the armed conflict. “The Commander-in-Chief of Belarus is doing everything necessary to ensure peace on our land," he stressed. “Following the President’s order, the grouping of our troops is being strengthened, we must be ready to react at any moment. As the Head of State noted, the main task is to prevent conflict in the country. We need to protect it from war. It is also a positive fact that the joint air defence system of Belarus and Russia works effectively.”

“Belarus once again demonstrates through its balanced and consistent actions that it does not want war, but any attempts to encroach on its territory will be suppressed by all the forces and means available. Belarus also remains faithful to its allied obligations to the Russian Federation,” Mr. Goroshkin added.
