“The conversation was very detailed and specific, from the point of view that we live now in a very hot, stressful time. It is hardly possible to overestimate the importance of co-operation between Russia and Belarus. I was interested in the situation with drones, the situation in your and our borderlands, how all this will affect our relations, and the events that will further develop. It was very interesting to learn of Aleksandr Lukashenko's vision about the future of our relations within the Union State, as well as his opinion in resolving the Ukrainian conflict. The answers were straight, the approach was very business-like, and the position was well-thought. To the credit of the host party, I should admit that no pre-conditions were outlined, and no topics, no questions were discussed in advance. It is clear that your President is immersed in the situation like no one else, and in this sense, I asked the questions that interested me as a journalist. It seems to me Aleksandr Grigorievich [Lukashenko] was extremely frank. In this sense, it is a great success, and I am grateful for it,” the Russian journalist told his Belarusian colleagues after today’s interview.

Mr. Popov is convinced that the position of the Belarusian leader is important, “The position of Belarus, as Aleksandr Grigorievich noted, is rooted in the standing back to back. “Do not wait for any threat from here, it will never happen,” he said, and this is the key.”

The journalist added that, from the point of view of human relations, both peoples are very close, and they should not succumb to any attempts to divide and separate them. “This integration is not only at the political level, but it is also at the human one. It is very deep. We have a path to move along, and it is right. I hope we will not turn away from it," Mr. Popov stressed.
