Opinion: European Union is US project
The European Union was created in line with the US idea to promote Washington's interests – as stated by Vadim Gigin, the Chairman of the Board of the Republican Znanie Belarusian Society, in his talk with the Soloviev Live TV channel
“The European Union is a project of the United States. Americans came up with the idea in order to keep this space under control through the economic and then political levers of the European Union and the NATO military,” the expert explained.
Mr. Gigin compared the European Union with the East India Company, “The current project of the European Union is a form of protectorate by the United States. The EU is akin to the East India Company of the 17th and 18th centuries. There were independent so-called native principalities, but they were all under the strict control of the Brits, who put them under control by a series of trade and political treaties. We have a fundamentally different approach.”
