Office of Consulate General of the Republic of Belarus opened in Hong Kong

The opening ceremony of the new Belarusian diplomatic mission in the People’s Republic of China took place on May 4th - as reported in the Belarusian Foreign Ministry’s press service

The event was attended by the Head of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region John Lee Ka-chiu, Commissioner of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Liu Guangyuan, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to China Yuri Senko.

“In their speeches, the officials of Belarus and China noted the positive dynamics of bilateral co-operation and the great potential for interaction, as well as the prospects and readiness of the parties to develop and strengthen liaisons between the business circles of Belarus and Hong Kong,” noted the Foreign Ministry’s press service.

Lee Ka-chiu, the Head of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, stressed that ‘one of the strengths of Belarus as a founding country of the Eurasian Economic Union is its developed industrial, scientific and technological base, which especially attracts investors from Hong Kong’. The significant role of Belarus in the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative and the interest of the parties in enhancing humanitarian ties and the qualitative development of tourism potential were also discussed.
