Number of students from China tripled in Belarus over past five years

The Chinese side has expressed interest in developing relations in the field of education, science and youth policy. "We have effectively established interuniversity relations. Over the past five years, the number of Chinese students in Belarus has tripled: there are 12,000+ of them at the moment. Centres for the study of the Belarusian language and culture are also very popular in China," the source informed.

It is reported that, over the past two years, five meetings have been held at the level of the education ministries of Belarus and China, two meetings of the Belarusian-Chinese Association of Universities, a forum of rectors of the universities of Belarus and China in Minsk, the seventh meeting of the commission on co-operation in the field of education of the Belarusian-Chinese Intergovernmental Co-operation Committee in Beijing and Dalian.
