Nagorno-Karabakh will cease to exist
Nagorno-Karabakh announced the cessation of the existence of the unrecognised republic from January 1st, 2024, with the corresponding decree signed by President of the unrecognised state Samvel Shahramanyan, RIA Novosti reports
It is noted that the decree comes into force immediately after its publication.
“A decision has been made: to dissolve all state institutions and organisations under their administrative jurisdiction by January 1st, 2024, and the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) ceases to exist. Based on the priority of ensuring the physical security and vital interests of the people of Karabakh, taking into account the agreement reached through the mediation of the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent with representatives of the Republic of Azerbaijan ensuring free, voluntary and unrestrained passage of residents of Nagorno-Karabakh, including military personnel who have laid down their arms, with their property is ensured on their vehicles along the Lachin corridor, and guided by Article 93 of the Constitution of Nagorno-Karabakh, a decision was made: to dissolve all state institutions and organisations under their administrative jurisdiction by January 1st, 2024, and the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) ceases to exist,” reads the document.
It is clarified that residents of Nagorno-Karabakh, including those who are outside its borders, are then invited to familiarise themselves with the conditions of reintegration that Azerbaijan will provide in order to independently make a decision in the future on the possibility of remaining in this region.
