Interior Minister: special purpose police unit and internal troops stationed at Belarus’ southern border
Due to the tense situation near the southern borders of Belarus, special purpose police units and internal troops have been deployed in the border area – as informed by Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakov at a briefing before the start of the Stolin-2024 exercises today, sb.by reports with reference to the Interior Ministry’s press service
The event was attended by the chairmen of the Brest and Gomel regional executive committees, Piotr Parkhomchik and Ivan Krupko, Deputy Minister – Commander of Internal Troops Nikolai Karpenkov, the Interior Ministry heads, leaders of the Minsk City Executive Committee and regional departments of internal affairs, their deputies, heads of district executive committees of border regions and of regional departments.
Opening the event, Mr. Kubrakov noted that the Interior Ministry had analysed the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk Region of Russia. Due to the tense situation near the southern borders of Belarus, special purpose police units and internal troops have been deployed in the border area, and their main goal is to prevent the enemy from entering the populated areas and to ensure the safety of Belarusian citizens. In this regard, operational interaction with the commanders of combat units, border troops, chairmen of regional and district executive committees has been organised.
The efforts being made make it possible to keep the situation under control and prevent the penetration of sabotage and reconnaissance groups into Belarus’ territory.
"The participants of the event visited the exhibition of equipment and weapons, heard reports on what forces and means are involved in the exercises. An action plan and tasks that the units aim to fulfil have been voiced,” the press service of the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
