Lukashenko was told about BelOMO’s promising project
During his visit to the Vavilov Minsk Mechanical Plant – Managing Company of BelOMO Holding, the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, was told about a promising project for the production of ABS and EBS brake drive systems for vehicles, BelTA reports
BelOMO Director General Aleksandr Moroz informed the Head of State about the work of the enterprises and their financial and economic condition. According to him, production volumes are growing, there are no wage arrears. “All enterprises work stably, with net profit, fulfilling all indicators,” said Aleksandr Moroz.
Most of the products (65 percent) of BelOMO enterprises are exported, with half of them being delivered to non-CIS countries. One of the promising projects is the creation of ABS and EBS brake drive systems for heavy vehicles. “It’s now very popular. Russian companies are all standing in queue. We competed with them, but now a niche has appeared, and our task is to occupy it,” the head of the holding said.
The project for the development and production of ABS and EBS import-substituting brake drive systems for vehicles and trailers was developed for the needs of Belarusian and Russian enterprises. It is assumed that these items will be developed for heavy vehicles, buses, trolleybuses and agricultural machinery.
By the end of the year, the company plans to start the first tests of the ABS system. The EBS system will be ready in another year. The project is being financed via the holding’s own and borrowed funds.
“The project has been included in the programme of our relations with the Russian Federation. The volumes of investments and volumes of production growth have been agreed upon,” Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Parkhomchik explained.
At the same time, the holding also has certain problems or, as Aleksandr Moroz says, tasks that need to be solved.
The President drew attention to the fact that the structure of the holding includes Zenit enterprise, which once produced popular brands of photo cameras. Nowadays, only imported equipment is in use.
Aleksandr Lukashenko was assured that in terms of optics and mechanics, domestic technologies are still at a high world level. The only question is the competitiveness in the electronics segment.
The holding pays special attention to the creation of production facilities in small towns. In particular, a new breath will be given to the Zenit Plant in Vileika, and a production facility will appear in Rogachev.
However, the main product of Minsk manufacture is optical devices. The Belarusian Head of State was demonstrated new developments in the field of optoelectronics and was told about further development prospects.
“Money should be invested in those areas where we have competencies,” Aleksandr Lukashenko underlined. “If there are such, we need to do it and bring it to the world level, even above the world level.”
During the visit to the enterprise, the President also got acquainted with the production at the site of CNC high-performance, high-precision machining centres.
