Lukashenko signed decree on transformation of specially protected natural areas
President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has signed Decree No. 439 On the Transformation of Specially Protected Natural Areas, sb.by reports with reference to the Head of State’s press service
The document clarifies the borders, areas and composition of lands of the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve, the Braslavskie Ozera (Braslav Lakes) and Pripyatsky national parks in connection with the change in the boundaries of districts and regions.
The lands, the special purpose of which does not meet the nature protection objectives, are excluded from the composition of specially protected natural territories. These are the lands of settlements, lands under transport communications (oil pipelines, power and communication lines, public roads).
At the same time, specially protected natural territories include lands occupied by tree and shrub vegetation (plantations) adjacent to the borders of these territories and some small-scale land plots that cannot be effectively used in agricultural production.
In general, as a result of the transformation, the areas of specially protected natural territories have been increased, which will have a favourable impact on the ecosystem. The introduction of additional restrictions and prohibitions on the regime of protection and use of these lands is not envisaged.
