Economy Minister: government to keep fostering new production initiatives in regions
On a work visit to Stolin District (Brest Region), Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar said the government will keep working to create good conditions for new production companies in Belarusian regions, sb.by reports citing the ministry's press service
The minister visited the Goryn construction material factory, where he met the workforce and talked to them about the economy and the regional development targets. They also discussed the company’s plans and other issues staff members felt were important to them.
“The government now runs a proactive investment policy focused on developing social and transport infrastructure and strengthening investment potential in the regions. The One District – One Project initiative has been launched for that very purpose. We have already done a lot. In under a two years, the number of promising ideas implemented outside of Minsk grew almost two-fold while our pool of ‘success stories’ now features close to 50 projects. Over 10,000 new jobs will appear when our initiative is finished. We are going to keep working to create good conditions for new production companies to pop up in small cities and towns and for the current production capacities to be modernised. Each company should get involved in that process: introduce new products, pursue import substitution, process locally sourced materials, and, of course, create new jobs,” the minister said.
Mr. Chebotar also visited the KB Stolin company and the OlshanyAgro farm where he inspected the results of the One District – One Project initiative. KB Stolin set up a new metal processing facility in 2023, while OlshanyAgro finished their greenhouse expansion investment project this year ahead of schedule.
