The Head of State, in particular, recalled that he graduated from the university in Mogilev and the agricultural academy in Gorki, “I’ve graduated from two regional universities. It doesn’t matter where a person studies, since programmes, manuals, and so on are all the same. I’m convinced teachers in regional universities are no worse than those in the capital. There’re very good teachers in regional universities.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that the main thing for young people now is the desire to gain knowledge and in-demand job, “I had a terrible desire to help people, to change something for the benefit of ordinary people. There was a lot of injustice. I’ve been dealing with this since my school years, I remember it all.”

The President advised young boys and girls not to rush to Minsk, where there is a very high population density and great competition, “Knowledge can be obtained both at BSU [Belarusian State University] and VSU [Vitebsk State University]. Therefore, do not rush to run somewhere.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko also advised to pay attention to learning foreign languages, playing sports and music, “Sports, a foreign language, music and, definitely, studying are the four pillars for a person. Labour is also of paramount importance.”
