Lukashenko on preserving historical truth: the West eager to recode us

Western countries want to reformat the consciousness of Belarusians in order to conquer them and bend people to their will – as stated by President Aleksandr Lukashenko during a conversation with residents of the agro-town of Parokhonsk today

“We are on their way. They want this to happen, but how this could be done? [It is possible to do this by] getting into a person's head and recoding it. It is hardly possible to this with us [older generation], but it’s easier to work with the youth. Therefore, they [in the West] want us to forget our history. Meanwhile, we have a heroic history, we should not just remember, but be proud of it. That's what we are doing. They want to recode us, they want to make the ones of us who do not remember our kinship. These are steps towards the main goal: they want to conquer us again, to bring us to our knees. They want to force us to do what they need so that they can live at our expense again. Therefore, we need to live by our own mind,” the Head of State said.
