Norway considering possibility of building fence along border with Russia

Norwegian Minister of Justice and Public Security Emilie Enger Mehl said that the authorities are considering the possibility of building a fence along the border with Russia, RIA Novosti reports

Emilie Enger Mehl noted that the fence at the border is very interesting not only because ‘it can serve as a deterrent, but also because it has touch sensors and technologies enabling to detect that people are approaching the border’.

According to her, the government is currently considering several measures to ‘strengthen security on the border with Russia, including the installation of fences, an increase in the number of border guards, as well as increased control’.
