Lukashenko named main sign of social state and compared Mosty with Paris
Foreigners like attractive and clean Belarus very much today – as noted by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko at a solemn ceremony honouring agricultural workers at the regional Dazhynki-2024 festival-fair in Mosty (Grodno Region)
The Head of State praised the fact that all achievements and quantitative indicators grow into the quality of people’s lives, “People’s lives are the main principle of our social state, our state for the people. Any success should be aimed at improving people’s lives.”
According to the Belarusian leader, the Grodno Region is close to the capital and the Minsk Region in terms of wages.
“And I think you have the potential to catch up with them,” he emphasised.
Aleksandr Lukashenko continued that it was in the Grodno Region that the era of peaceful atom began: the first domestic nuclear power plant was built and put into operation. Ostrovets, where it is located, has become the district centre of the future. In terms of its infrastructure and capabilities, it is a model that others can look up to. The same applies to the capital of the current Dazhynki.
“Your city has become strikingly prettier and is completely different from Mosty that welcomed me in 1997 at the second republican Dazhynki festival. The locals poetically call it ‘little Paris’. You’re wrong. Believe me, Mosty is more attractive today than Paris itself. Broken shop windows, burnt-out cars, bedbugs, crime, continuous migrants — we have seen it all in the reports from the Olympic Games. And the dirty River Seine is no match for our majestic, full-flowing Niemen, especially in the area of Mosty, where Belarus’ largest suspension bridge is located (almost 200m),” the Head of State underlined.
