Lukashenko: Belarus is country of bread and territory of peace, mutual understanding and respect for each other

Belarus is a country of bread and a territory of peace, mutual understanding and respect for each other. This is our philosophy, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasised during today’s solemn ceremony honouring agricultural workers at the regional Dazhynki-2024 festival-fair in Mosty (Grodno Region).

The Head of State recalled that in 1997, speaking at the Dazhynki fair in Mosty, he said, “If there is bread, there will be peace! Bread is our gold reserve: a guarantee of confident dynamic development and prosperity of the state. But there is no gold without those who ‘mine’ it with their calloused hands: without our hardworking and responsible ploughmen.”

The Belarusian leader underlined that no matter how hard it is, grain growers are always in the field, “You were in the field, on the front line during the difficult pandemic years, when they tried to turn us over. When I called you to Minsk, you arrived quickly and left to work on the land. Wasn’t I supposed to come today and bow at your feet? Thank you so much for your patience. You are the bulwark; you are the backbone of our state.”

The Belarusian leader added that despite the progress and new technologies, we have never had and will never have easy bread. “No matter what they tell us about food made from 3D printers and powder from crickets, bread is the main thing. We won’t eat cockroaches. As I say, an apple does not grow in a computer. It’s all on earth thanks to our calloused hands. I am proud that Belarus is a country of bread and a territory of peace, mutual understanding and respect for each other. This is our philosophy. It was like that and it will always be like that.”

The Head of State reminded the famous movie White Dew, filmed in the Grodno Region, which says that people should not talk with their tongues, but with their souls, “This is what happens in rural areas. The earth unites people of different ages, professions and nationalities.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko once again thanked all farmers and those who helped them in the struggle for decent results, “I bow down to you, dear villagers! I am convinced that you will continue to multiply the best traditions. I sincerely wish you strong health, prosperity, and always good weather both in the grain field and at home.”
