Lukashenko: unlike Western officials, Belarusians know how to build bridges

Foreigners really like our clean, safe and comfortable country, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasised during today’s solemn ceremony honouring agricultural workers at the regional Dazhynki-2024 festival-fair in Mosty (Grodno Region)

The Head of State stated that foreigners are happy to come to us ‘despite the lies that are spread about the Belarusian state’, “I have said many times that people should not suffer because of the stupidity of their leaders. We have responded to the sanctions and restrictions on the entry of our trucks, trains, planes and cars with visa-free travel for citizens of a hundred countries.”

According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, about a million people have already seen with their own eyes that Belarus really has a ‘dictatorship of stability, security, order, kindness and hospitality, “We have a dictatorship of justice. Maybe we haven’t done everything yet, but any president who will lead the country in the near future needs to do everything in five years so that we have the fairest country. I always say that people in any country serve sentences in prisons, etc. But even those who break the law shouldn’t be offended. You can’t offend them so that they hold a grudge against you. People need to understand that the decision was made fairly. Justice is the main thing. This applies to everyone: a milkmaid, a machine operator, a specialist, a manager of any level. We must create such a country. We are moving in this direction.”

“Unlike Western officials, we understand that with all the contradictions, even if we are on different shores, the most important thing is to be able to build bridges. We have always done this and we will do it,” the Belarusian leader underlined.

The Head of State stressed that we are not escalating the situation, “No Russia is going to attack Poland, Lithuania or Latvia, or Ukraine through Belarus. It’s nonsense! No one is going to go to war with our neighbours and NATO from [the territory of] Belarus without our knowledge! They have set a goal to strangle us with Russia, and today, moving towards this goal, they are looking for reasons. It is simple: they are just looking for a reason to blame us for something.”

The situation with migrants is one example. Aleksandr Lukashenko fundamentally drew attention to the fact that we do not need problems with migrants pouring through Belarus from the countries where the West has unleashed wars. But we will not protect Western states from the migration crisis either, “They impose sanctions on us, and we have to protect them? This won’t happen! They put a noose around our necks but still demand to protect them as it used to be. It won’t be like that. It’s expensive. That’s why we’re open. We’re honest. We are not causing problems for anyone here. But we are neighbours.”

Neighbours can’t be chosen, they are given by God, the President said and addressed our western neighbours, “Let’s build our relationships in a neighbourly way. If you don’t want to, that’s fine. We will find other countries with which we will liaise. But if cease to be an interest to us, you won’t come to us again.”
