Lukashenko guiding governments of Belarus, Uzbekistan to more active work

The governments of Belarus and Uzbekistan should more actively implement the two leaders’ agreements – as stated by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, during his today’s talks with the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in an expanded format

The Head of State cordially thanked his colleague for the traditionally warm welcome and reverent attitude towards the Belarusian delegation in the hospitable Uzbek land. Aleksandr Lukashenko recalled that an agreement on an official visit was reached during the meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council in Bishkek last November.

The Belarusian leader stated, “We are observing the transformations that are currently taking place in Uzbekistan with great interest. You need time only. A lot has been missed, so you – as you have put it correctly – have to catch up, and this process is always not easy. Importantly, you know where to go. You are developing at an amazing pace. We – being your friends and close brothers – are always close to you, since the Uzbek and Belarusian peoples are very similar, they are hardworking and tolerant. They are real hard workers. This is the basis of our relationship.”

The President stressed that Uzbekistan is the main country for co-operation in Central Asia.

Commenting on the bilateral liaisons, the Belarusian leader emphasised, “I see that we have fallen short of some points, but not because the presidents did not work in that direction. This means that somewhere you, members of our governments, ministers, have underperformed. So let's follow the principle: we must do what have been reached as part of our agreements.”
