"The life-changing decision on the eternal neutrality of your country, taken 69 years ago, allowed Austrians to build a modern state based on the principles of peaceful coexistence and good neighbourliness," the congratulatory message reads.

Belarusians, like Austrians, know the true cost of expanding military alliances, an uncontrolled arms race that led to confrontation and the beginning of the most terrible and dangerous military conflict of the 20th century. "The same situation is developing before your eyes these days,” the Head of State stressed.

"WWII brought a lot of suffering and sacrifices, and we cannot forget its consequences. Modern politicians and the military need to know history so as not to repeat the mistakes of the past," Aleksandr Lukashenko noted. “In 2025, the 80th anniversary of the Victory over Nazism will be celebrated by all people of good will. I really hope that you will also join in the celebration of this important event."

On behalf of the Belarusian people, the President wished all Austrian citizens good health, peace and happiness.
