Lukashenko: China is BRICS’ main pillar and foundation
President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko said in his interview with CGTN that he considers China BRICS’ main pillar and foundation, BelTA reports

“Generally, when talking about China and BRICS, I have trouble imagining BRICS without China. China is power. You could say it’s the top country in the world. All right, second from the top after the US. But I think it’s the first, especially with the progress China is demonstrating now, definitely the first. It’s great to have China in the SCO or BRICS. They are one of the pillars, the main foundation of those organisations. So BRICS countries should be happy to partner with China and have China in their club,” said Belarus’ Head of State.
Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasised that BRICS is a young organisation that has long ways to go still. He believes that, “Things are just starting out. Global processes are turbulent, so it’s great to have this organisation. China is invaluable for the future and for BRICS prospects.”
The President also noted contributions to BRICS made by India which is gaining steam in its development. “Those are powerful driving forces. Add in the Russian Federation which is the global resource trove,” added the Belarusian leader.
