2025 election: documents submitted to Central Election Commission to register first initiative group of Presidential candidate: Aleksandr Lukashenko

The documents required for registration of an initiative group of voters for the nomination of Presidential candidate Aleksandr Lukashenko have been submitted today, October 26th, to the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Belarus

As reported by the Chairman of Belarus’ Federation of Trade Unions, Yuri Senko, his group has submitted an application to the Central Election Commission for registration of an initiative group of citizens to collect signatures of voters in support of the nomination of Aleksandr Grigorievich Lukashenko as a Presidential candidate. “The group has been created, the necessary package of documents and an application have been prepared. In accordance with the procedure established by law, we have attached this package of documents to the application and submitted them to the Central Election Commission today. After the CEC registration, the initiative group will begin collecting signatures in support of the nomination of Presidential candidate Aleksandr Grigorievich Lukashenko. All the specialists are prepared, and we are convinced that we will pass this path in truly worthy manner.”

According to the legislation, the initiative group must include at least 100 people, and Mr. Senko commented, “Our group is much larger. We will work in all regions of the country, and local authorities will identify places for possible collection of signatures. The same places will be organised in labour collectives as well. I am convinced that our specialists will cope with this task.”

Answering a question from the sb.by journalist, Mr. Senko explained why the Federation of Trade Unions had got down to the creation and submission of documents for registration of the initiative group right away, “This is because we were ready for this step. We worked very closely with our potential specialists, who have actively joined our group, and I am very glad that a large number of activists have joined this work. We are now ready to fulfil our task.”

The Chairman of Belarus’ Federation of Trade Unions added, “I am very pleased that I have been chosen [as the initiative group head], I accepted that offer with great pleasure. There is a notarised power of attorney in this regard. As a lawyer, I am convinced that I will cope with this task and prepare a team that will work with me in support of our candidate. We are not engaged in any kind of election propaganda: the work of Aleksandr Grigorievich Lukashenko speaks for itself. I am convinced that our people, the population of Belarus, will make a correct, good and dependable choice.”
