“First of all, I welcome you to Belarus, which is very close to you. [Your region] is probably Russia’s closest one for us. We may not have reached huge trade turnover figures ($205-210m), but we actually register a serious increase. There is one point only: we have a negative balance. However, we are ready to level this, and – importantly – there are possibilities for this,” the President addressed his guest.
Aleksandr Lukashenko expressed gratitude to the Governor for the interest shown by the region in development of co-operation with Belarus, “The Kursk Region is a very important trade and economic partner for us, and we need to focus special attention on the most promising areas of co-operation: construction, industrial liaisons, agriculture, the sectors with yet untapped reserves. We are ready to participate in the implementation of modernisation programmes for key sectors of the Kursk Region's economy.”
The Head of State noted that, in 2020, the Kursk Region adopted a strategy of socio-economic development. It will run until 2030, and Aleksandr Lukashenko believes Belarus will find its place in the implementation of these plans.
