Lukashenko: we have to settle the issue of Vitebsk Region during next five years
In the next five-year plan, we have to settle the issue of the Vitebsk Region, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko said during today’s Dazhynki-2024 regional festival-fair in Polotsk
The Head of State suggests a simple tactic: to determine the places where dairy farms will be built, “If there are cows, there is beef. Bull-calves for fattening, while heifer calves are used for reproduction, future cows for giving milk. Moreover, there should be a fodder base for this: a facility and a certain number of hectares based on soil fertility.”
According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, it’s not about facilities, milk and meat.
“There is enough of this in the country. It’s about you, people. I can’t imagine that the Vitebsk Region will be some bare, dreary land, with no people, but only emptiness. This will never happen,” the President emphasised.
Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that in relation to the southern lands, the Vitebsk Region has its own characteristics, including negative ones [referring to climatic conditions], “Meanwhile, if we compare with other countries (e.g., Norway, Finland, the north of Russia), they have even more difficult conditions in terms of farming. But they live and work, and will continue doing this. I mean that nobody needs the Vitebsk Region people somewhere out there. We will live with you on this land! But we need to clearly define what we will do here: if people stay – where they will work, what salary they will receive, what working conditions they will have. It’s scary to even think about the amount of work that we have to do in the Vitebsk Region. As the provers says: put one foot in front of the other. Whether we want it or not, but based on our experience, we must finally settle the issue of the Vitebsk Region in the next five years: to decide in a positive way and decide what else we will do here.”
