Lukashenko: Belarus has everything to repel possible dirty tricks against Belarus

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has convened a meeting on military security issues today, and – before being reported by the generals – the Head of State reminded that Belarus is at the centre of the geostrategic interests of the planet

“It is one of the reasons for the growing tension at our borders. In addition (we have also been witnessing this for a long time), various kinds of ‘khorugvi’ [troops] as they proudly call them, regiments and corps are being formed outside our country, from among mostly our fugitives – to invade Belarus at a certain period of time, take power and turn the country around. We saw that and we are aware of this. By knowing this, we have always been preparing – including for countering these people, especially within our special services and the Armed Forces,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

According to the President, the State Secretary of the Security Council, the Defence Minister and the KGB Chief report to him that Belarus’ security forces are fully ready to counter any threats. “As I understand it, we have everything to repel possible dirty tricks (I do not want to say attacks or strikes) against Belarus,” he said.

The situation on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border was another topic of the meeting. The Head of State stressed that, after the incident with drones, control had been strengthened and army units had been sent there. The Commander-in-Chief asked the participants of the meeting about the situation on the border and also asked for suggestions, “What are we going to do here next?”

The President stressed that today’s event was not an attempt to ‘delve into the analysis of some serious problems’ of the army, “We will come back to that later. All issues are under control, everyone knows what needs to be done. We now have this particular issue related to the Belarusian-Ukrainian border: some time has passed, how serious is what is happening there from the side of Ukraine?”
