Belarus’ General Staff Chief: AFU provocation in Kursk Region forced us to reconsider the composition of forces and means to ensure security at border

The provocation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk Region of Russia has forced Belarus to reconsider its forces and means to ensure security at the border – as stated by Pavel Muraveiko, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces and First Deputy Defence Minister of Belarus, after his today’s report to President Aleksandr Lukashenko

“The large-scale resonant provocation carried out by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the territory of Russia, in particular, in the Kursk Region, forced us to reconsider the composition of forces and means that we attract to ensure our security,” Mr. Muraveiko stressed. “We have increased the air defence group, because unmanned aerial vehicles are now more frequently penetrating into our airspace. We have created the necessary conditions for the deployment of groups with heavy equipment and are adequately prepared to respond to provocations such as those in the Kursk Region. We control our state border, have enhanced our forces and intelligence, and are creating certain reserves and capabilities for the deployment of groups. Objectively, I can note that the composition of forces and means that have been redeployed to the border at present is greater than the one that was created earlier (during the period of previous tension in July). It provides adequate counteraction to any attacks and provocations.”
