Lavrov: West raising stakes in Ukrainian conflict by delivering long-range systems
By supplying increasingly lethal and long-range systems to Kiev, the West is raising the stakes in the Ukrainian conflict – as stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an exclusive interview with TASS on the results of 2023
“Despite the failure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ counteroffensive, the West continues to pump Kiev with weapons, raising the stakes by using increasingly lethal and long-range systems in the Ukrainian conflict. NATO weapons are being supplied, including cluster munitions and depleted uranium shells,” noted the Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Tragic events in the Middle East, according to Lavrov, have temporarily pushed the Ukrainian crisis off the front pages of Western media outlets. “However, ‘strategically defeating Russia on the battlefield’ is still a priority for most unfriendly governments. Neither Washington nor Brussels refuse to provide assistance to the Kiev regime, realising that it is doomed without it. They are still vitally interested in restraining Russia by sacrificing Ukrainians,” the top Russian diplomat stressed.
Sergei Lavrov noted that the Ramstein format continues to function, within which representatives of over 50 countries monthly discuss Kiev’s requests for the provision of military equipment and munition.
