Kochanova: MPs tasked to convey the truth about Belarus from all international platforms

The task of parliamentarians today is to convey the truth about Belarus from all international platforms – as stated by the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic, Natalya Kochanova, at a meeting with students and lecturers of the Belarusian State University

As stressed by Ms. Kochanova, the international activity is among the most important directions in the Council of the Republic’s work. “We are working very actively, despite the attitude [of the West] towards our country. The time is unique now, it is very difficult. Despite the fact that you live now in a beautiful country, which we never before lived in, the information flows and the increase in the number of hot spots in the world are alarming,” she said.

The Speaker of the Council of the Republic recalled that, during Belarusian leader’s visit to Pakistan this week, such topics had also been discussed.

“The President of Belarus warned of the international turbulence and geopolitical division of the world back in 2018-2019. Therefore, the task of parliamentarians now is to convey the truth about our country from all international platforms. No need to think that we are in deep isolation, it is not so. Our activities are proof of this. We are members of various international structures: the Interparliamentary Union, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, IPA CIS, and the CSTO Assembly. Belarus has become a BRICS partner and a full member of the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation, as well as about two dozen other international structures,” Ms. Kochanova said.

The Chairperson of the Council of the Republic also reported on the participation of Belarus’ parliamentary delegation in the CIS IPA Council meeting in St. Petersburg, “We discussed very important and topical issues related to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory and considered the model laws that will be further implemented into our national legislation. Therefore, we are very active in the international arena.”
