The issues of intensifying diplomatic and inter-parliamentary co-operation, establishing trade-economic liaisons were put on the agenda of the discussion. Deputy of the House of Representatives, member of the working group of the National Assembly of Belarus on co-operation with the Parliament of the United Mexican States Sergei Klishevich noted that during the meeting the parliamentarians discussed issues of strengthening Belarus’ diplomatic presence and Mexico. In particular, the issue of opening a Mexican embassy or trade mission in Belarus and a Belarusian embassy or trade mission in Mexico was under discussion, “The initiative has found support from our Mexican colleagues. In this connection, the procedure for the official study of the issue at the level of the Parliament of the United Mexican States has begun. Moreover, they discussed trade-economic issues. Today, Mexico needs our potash fertilisers, being ranked tenth in the world in terms of agricultural production. In this connection, we can say that there are common points, based on which we are able to build a powerful, strong, friendly policy between our states.”
The parliamentarian stressed that the use of the economic potential of the United Mexican States will enable Belarus to promote trade-economic interests throughout the Latin American region.
“Mexico has its own merchant fleet and other features of its economic development that would enable us to develop trade-economic collaboration with our long-standing partners like Venezuela and Cuba, which also have good relations with Mexico,” Sergei Klishevich said.
The parliamentarians of the National Assembly of Belarus invited the United Mexican States Congress deputies to visit our country.
“Our Mexican friends accepted the invitation, and now we are working on the visit of the leadership of the United Mexican States Congress to Belarus,” Sergei Klishevich stated.
